What are Volunteer Grants?

Definition Volunteer grants allow companies to recognize employee volunteer efforts with cash.  Also known as Dollars for Doers, volunteer grants are the most frequently offered volunteer incentive, and program managers surveyed by the Committee to encourage Corporate Philanthropy have reported it to be their most successful program.

Volunteer grants reward employees for repeat volunteering, which can lead to greater employee engagement with nonprofit organizations.  This program also motivates employees to log their hours, if an automated hour logging system is not already in place.

Dollars for Doers programs (aka volunteer grant programs) are a relatively new form of corporate giving. Whereas employee matching gift programs have been around since 1953, volunteer grant programs have really caught on in the last 10 years.
That being said, thousands of companies offer these programs with few restrictions on the types of organizations which are eligible.
Take a look at this list of large employers who offer Dollars for Doers program
